RTW: Groundhog's Day

From YA Highway...
The topic:
In the movie "Groundhog Day," Bill Murray has to relive the same day over and over. What books would you pick to read over and over for the rest of your life?

groundhogs can be kinda cute. i want to hug this guy.

So at first I thought of quite a few books I could read over and over again. But then ... I thought more and decided there are actually very few. I like books that break my heart, challenge my mind, change my opinions, but I also just like books that entertain me. Maybe this sounds pathetic, but the books I read over and over again are usually for pure entertainment value. I feel good when I finish them. So I'd probably pick things like Calvin and Hobbes or the Shopoholic series if I was being totally honest. But, to preserve my self-image as an intelligent and well-read human being, I'm breaking this down into categories:

*A book to read when I want to feel sad: The Sky is Everywhere

*A book to read to expand my mind: Three Cups of Tea

*A book to read for pure entertainment: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
(PS - haven't seen that movie yet, but it's on my list. I hear it's good)

What about you? What books would you read over and over again?

  5. Hey, nothing wrong with entertaining books =)

I'd have to go with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and all of Tamora Pierce's books that are set in Tortall. And probably The Hunger Games.

...I reread books a lot, what can I say =)

  6. Those are good books, especially Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And I thought the movie was pretty good, too!

There are way too many books that I like to re-read...J.K. Rowling's, Stephanie Meyer's, Dianna Wynne Jones', Sarah Dessen's...too many to list!

  7. I'm so glad The Sky is Everywhere keeps coming up! Such a beautiful book!

Voyage of the Dawn Treader was always my favourite Narnia book. I need to check out the film too!

  8. It's sad that I had never read any of these books before. I kept meaning to pick up a copy of THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE, but haven't yet. Definitely need to now. :)

  9. Ah, yes, The Sky is Everywhere is amazing - for sure a re-read. I'd second The Hunger Games Series, and add Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.
